In a continuing effort to help local animal charities, Miami Seaquarium introduces the Give $3, Save 30% offer, which gives guests the opportunity to donate to one of their favorite charities and receive a 30 percent savings on admission to Miami Seaquarium. Following the success of the last two years’ similar promotions which raised more than $46,000 in donations for wildlife related charities, this year’s promotion will benefit south Florida-based charities including Humane Society of Greater Miami Adopt-a-Pet, Humane Society of Broward County and South Florida SPCA Horse Rescue.

The South Florida SPCA, founded in 1992, is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and adoption of abused, neglected and abandoned horses and other large animals. We also educate the community about responsible animal care, animal ownership and promote the welfare of animals through local and national advocacy.

‘Dine with the Dolphins’ Offers A Unique Valentine's Day Experience

Dine with the Dolphins at Miami Seaquarium offers couples looking for a unique yet memorable Valentine’s Day experience, the opportunity to enjoy a delicious candlelight dinner under the stars in the company of some very special dolphins.

This Valentine's Day, Feb. 14 from 8pm-10pm, Miami Seaquarium invites sweethearts to take a break from the ordinary and enjoy their Valentine’s Day dinner overlooking the dolphins at Dolphin Harbor. Sea Trek Reef Encounter at the Miami Seaquarium

The Sea Trek Reef Encounter is a helmet diving experience that allows guests to become one with the Miami Seaquarium's 300,000-gallon tropical reef aquarium, while moving in ethereal slow motion in a near zero gravity diving system.

"Sea Trekking," developed by Sub Sea Systems, can be experienced by non-divers, ages 10 and above; no certification or swimming skills are necessary. In the magnificent Reef Aquarium at the Miami Seaquarium participants may Sea Trek as deep as 15 feet under the "sea" to swim with more than 3,000 fish and 80 different species of marine life.

The Sea Trek Reef Encounter at Miami Seaquarium lasts approximately 90 minutes, including an orientation session. Twenty minutes are spent under warter.

For safety reasons, please review the following information. Guests participating in the Sea Trek Reef Encounter must meet the following requirements:

* Be at least 10 years of age.

* Guests under 14 years of age must be accompanied by a paid adult participant.

* Guests under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a supervising adult who pays the observer fee. (General park admission also applies.)

* SCUBA certification is not required.

* Eyeglasses are permitted, but no sunglasses. (Transition lenses are acceptable.)

* Guests must wear a wetsuit during Sea Trek Reef Encounter.

* Guests are not permitted to wear jewelry.

Celebrate The Holidays With Exciting Events At Zoo Miami

This holiday season Zoo Miami is hosting a myriad of exciting and fun activities for everyone. Enjoy a Holiday Hoedown, eight nights of Zoo Lights, Dinner with Santa, and watch the animals open their special holiday gifts!


Zoo Miami is located at 12400 SW 152 Street, Miami. General zoo admission is $15.95/adult and $11.95/child (3 -12) plus tax. Children under 3, Zoo members and parking are free. Zoo Miami’s regular hours are 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.; ticket booths close at 4 p.m.

Holiday Hoedown

Alligator Ron's Holiday Hoedown is a fundraiser for Zoo Miami’s up-coming exhibit, Florida: Mission Everglades, set to open in 2014. It will take place on Dec. 3 at Green Glades Ranch (21111 SW 16 St., Weston) from 6:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.


There will be live music from the country band Shadow Creek, an open bar, and great BBQ all to benefit the Florida: Mission Everglades. Since it is a hoedown in December, the attire requested is Holiday Western Wear. Light up cowboy boot mugs will be sold for a $20 donation.

At Zoo Miami, guests can enjoy beautiful animal-shaped lights as they stroll zoo walkways during the 8 nights of Zoo Lights, have Dinner with Santa, and watch the animals open their specially-prepared gifts during Holiday Gifts for the Animals.


The zoo’s glorious grounds come to light for eight brilliant nights during Zoo Lights, Dec. 16-23 from 7 p.m.-10 p.m. (ticket booths close at 9:30 p.m.). Guests can enjoy dozens of bright animal-shaped lights along our walkways, listen to wonderful holiday music, sip hot chocolate, munch on delicious cookies, and take a ride on a camel, the wildlife carrousel or the hippo slide (the world’s largest inflatable slide). Included with admission is a pair of 3-D glasses, which will make the Zoo Lights experience even more engaging and amusing. 


General admission is only $5 per person plus tax. Food, beverages, camel rides, carrousel and hippo slide are all available at additional costs.

Dinner With Santa

Dinner with Santa will take place on Dec. 17, from 7:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. Bring the kids to meet him before he has to rush back to the North Pole!  Enjoy a delicious holiday dinner with the family, photos with Santa, a holiday plush gift and holiday craft-making for the little ones! 

Dinner with Santa admission includes parking, entry to Zoo Lights from 7 p.m.-10 p.m. and a classic holiday menu of fresh roasted turkey with homemade gravy, baked ham, candied sweet potatoes with melting marshmallows, herbed buttery carrots, homemade cranberry sauce, dinner rolls with butter, homemade seasonal pumpkin cake with cream cheese icing, strawberry-infused lemonade, and cranberry mint-infused water.

Another fun family activity is Holiday Gifts for the Animals!  Every weekend in December, including Christmas Day, watch the animals joyfully open holiday gifts prepared by zookeepers and volunteers. Dolphin Odyssey

The Power Of The Eleventh Hour: $11 Admission Before 11am On 11/11/11 at Miami Seaquarium

Miami Seaquarium has announced its 11/11/11 promotion, which offers guests who are in line for park admission before 11am on Veteran’s Day, Friday, November 11, 2011, $11 admission. The $11 off admission is only available with a coupon that can be found at www.miamiseaquarium.com/coupon.

Park guests must be in the admission line before 11am on 11/11/11 to benefit from the $11 admission. All others will receive $11 off admission on 11/11/11 when they present the coupon (found HERE) at the ticket counter.

During the promotion, first responders and members of the military will receive complimentary entrance to the park all day. First responders, members of the military, large company and county employees will need to provide proper identification.

Cruise "The Venice of America" on Fort Lauderdale's Famed Jungle Queen Riverboat

Making its way through the intricate and tranquil Fort Lauderdale waterways

Jungle Island is proud to announce the grand opening of a brand new exhibit that will showcase two new residents to the Jungle: Japa is a 4-year-old male spotted leopard and 5-year-old Biji (prounced Bee-ja) is a female melanistic leopard, or "black leopard." The two came to Jungle Island from a sanctuary in South Carolina.

The exhibit’s grand opening event was streamed live online for the public, a unique feature for an attraction in South Florida. Interested viewers were able to log onto Jungle Island’s video feed and watch the opening event live! The recorded video is available on  www.ustream.com/channel/jungleisland.

The cats will be housed in a newly designed habitat that features similar elements to the park’s existing Tiger/Liger exhibit. Visitors will be able to walk right up to the glass and get an up-close view of these magnificent creatures.

Leopards are the smallest of the four “big cats,” and are known as agile and stealthy hunters. Just like its cousin, the jaguar, leopards can climb trees and like to spend a good amount of time off the ground. Their new habitat on Jungle Island has been specially designed to give these cats the ability to climb and jump as they would in the wild.

The new leopards join the jungle’s already diverse animal family which includes some of the world’s most incredible animals including a set of orangutan twins, a liger and a cassowary.

Miami Science Museum Offers Fun-Filled Space Exploration at Free August/September Fabulous First Friday Events

The Laser Show at the Miami Science Museum during Fabulous First Friday

Kids and adults alike can explore the wonders of space for FREE at Miami Science Museum’s Fabulous First Friday events in August and September. Guests can “reach for the stars” during a free planetarium show, rooftop observatory viewing, and Activity Room for children three and older.


For a nominal charge, attendees can also enjoy Miami Science Museum’s exhilarating laser shows. Laser Show admission is $4 per child, and $8 per adult. For more information about the Laser Shows, visit the website.

During both dates, the Activity Room for children ages three and older will feature supervised activities and demonstrations, starting just before 8 p.m. Also, the Ms. Cheezious food truck will be on site, and donate 10 percent of all sales to Miami Science Museum’s Upward Bound program. One of the US Department of Education's TRIO programs, Upward Bound helps low income, first-generation college bound students to be prepared for postsecondary study, and to graduate college with a bachelor's degree in science, math, and technology related fields.

Inside the Planetarium

Current exhibitions at the Museum, viewable daily from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., include Earth From Space: The Magic Planet, Energy Tracker, Heart Smart, The Sea Lab, and Wildlife Center. Exhibitions are included in the museum admission price.
