The 15th Annual “Miracle On 136th Street” Holiday Parade at The Falls


The Falls 15th annual Miracle on 136th Street Holiday Parade will soon be marching its way into South Florida to kick off the most wonderful time of the year with a special guest starring as Grand Marshal.

Miracle on 136th Street takes place Saturday, Nov. 19 at 4pm at The Falls (Center Court), 8888 SW 136 St., Miami. More info at 305-255-4571, www.simon.com or on Facebook. The event is free and open to the public.

The celebration will include Santa’s first appearance of the season, along with internationally recognized costume characters, marching bands, motorcycles, clowns, vintage cars and local celebrities.

Parade starts at the east end of The Falls in front of Bloomingdale’s and will travel the entire length to the center, west to Macy’s.

Following the parade, The Falls officially kicks off the holiday season with the lighting of their more than one million white lights in the gardens that line the shopping area. The holiday lights will be on display through Jan. 6, 2012.

This year, the parade will benefit the United Way Center for Excellence in Early Education, an innovative learning, teaching and training initiative dedicated to elevating the quality of early care and education in Miami-Dade County and beyond.

Strut Your Stuff for Cancer: Local Ladies Strap On Stilettos For A Sole-Inspired Dash Around The Falls

The Pink Heels will be at the event!

The Falls, one of the largest open-air shopping, dining and entertainment complexes in the United States, is excited to welcome the “Strut Your Stuff For Cancer” fundraising event, presented by Baptist Health Breast Center, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The event takes place on Thursday, Oct. 6, 6pm-9pm, at the Center Court in The Falls, 8888 SW 136 Street, Miami. The evening kicks off with a sassy "strut" around The Falls leading to a style trend show featuring "well-heeled" cancer survivors and the "angels" who helped them recover.


The Pink Heals Tour will be stopping at the event as part of their national tour. The Pink Heals Tour, a movement celebrating women by raising money and awareness for the fight against Breast Cancer, will be steering their two signature pink fire trucks towards The Falls in honor of the charitable event.

The Pink Heals Tour is led by the self-proclaimed “Guardians of the Ribbon,” a group of firefighters, police men and community leaders that travel the country to spread the “Cares Enough to Wear Pink” campaign, the fastest growing movement in the country.  The campaign’s non-profit mission is to provide a national movement for the support of women across the country by wearing the color pink. The tour will be selling their commemorative Pink Heals T-shirts at the event in hopes of generating proceeds for those affected by the disease in the community. Proceeds will directly benefit Cancer Support Community Greater Miami, Sandy B. Muller Breast Cancer Foundation and La Liga Contra El Cancer.  The event will feature wellness presentations, live entertainment and a chic cocktail hour with decadent treats.  Guests will also receive a gift bag with The Falls October Savings Book and other exclusive goodies.  Attendees will have the opportunity to register to win fabulous prizes.  The Falls will "GO Pink" throughout the month of October in recognition of this noteworthy evening.

The Falls, one of the largest open-air shopping, dining and entertainment complexes in the U.S., is making it easier for shoppers to give gifts and support causes they believe in with the launch of two whimsical versions of the Vera Bradley Simon Giftcard: The Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer Giftcard and the “Viva La Vera” Vera Bradley/Simon Giftcard.  For every Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer Giftcard purchased, Simon will donate $1 to the Vera Bradley Foundation.

Miami International Mall & The Falls Cook Up Family Fun With Simon Kidgits Club’s Super Duper Mini Chefs

Miami International Mall and The Falls invite children of all ages to roll up their sleeves and explore the fun side of food with hands-on learning activities during the Simon Kidgits Club’s Super Duper Mini Chefs event on Saturday, June 11 from 2-4 pm at Miami International Mall's Center Court (1455 NW 107 Ave., Doral) and The Falls' Center Court (8888 SW 136 St., Miami).

The mini chefs will transform the malls into magical kitchens as they make their own menu, decorate cupcakes and learn to make other culinary creations. Kids will receive an apron to help them make the sweet treats.

Kids are also encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to be donated to Feeding South Florida, a local nonprofit organization that works to reduce hunger by reducing waste. The organization does this by providing food and other grocery products; and by educating and engaging the South Florida community to fight hunger and poverty.

The Simon Kidgits Club’s Super Duper Mini Chefs event is free to members and $5 for nonmembers. Families can sign up for the Kidgits Club, during regular mall hours, for an annual membership fee of $5.  Membership includes a Kidgits Club membership card and T-shirt, scheduled entertainment and activities for families, a Birthday Club (including birthday card and gift redemption certificate), unique programs and offers, discounts and a quarterly newsletter. The Falls’ "Art By Nature" Exhibition Sheds Light On The Importance Of Recycling & Celebrates Nature’s Beauty


The Falls, one of the largest open-air shopping, dining and entertainment complexes in the U.S., is proud to present “Art By Nature”, a premier eco-art exhibition that aims to celebrate nature, while shedding light on the importance of conserving and protecting the Earth’s natural resources and environment. The free exhibition, which runs from May 6-30, will serve as the backdrop to a month of festive eco-activities at the mall.

The exhibit will feature a variety of unique, nature-inspired sculptures, figures and monuments created with eco-friendly materials from nine local artists including Audrey Barth (South Miami), Laurie Bogis and her third grade art class (Miami), Jonathan Brooks (Miami), Jenn Cucalon (South Miami), Clark DeCapite, Jr. (South Miami), John May (Pompano Beach), César Santaló (Miami), Nina Shepard (Miami) and Robert Tabor (Fort Lauderdale).

To kick off The Falls’ Art By Nature exhibition, renowned sand artist John May will be at The Falls assembling his piece, “Under the Sea in Sand.” May will use sand, South Florida’s ultimate recyclable material, to create a table-top sculpture featuring dolphins, sea turtles, sea horses, fish, kelp, coral and more. Shoppers are invited to watch May as he assembles his piece beginning on Friday, May 6 and continuing throughout the weekend.

“The Falls, with its lush landscaped environment, is the perfect backdrop to showcase works of art that will inspire us all to do our part to save the planet,” said Dailen Rodriguez, director of mall marketing and business development at The Falls. “This effort exemplifies our commitment to environmental awareness and allows us to further advance our go-green initiatives.”

“Art by Nature” is free and open to the public for viewing throughout the beautiful tropical landscape environment at The Falls from Friday, May 6 through Monday, May 30.  Shoppers are invited to vote for their favorite art piece by visiting guest services or texting the artist number to #74666. The artists with the most votes will receive exclusive prizes from The Falls.

The Falls Invites Families to Brunch with the Easter Bunny

Families are invited to hop on down to The Falls as the mall ‘Springs’ into full gear with a fun, festive day featuring the arrival of the beloved Easter Bunny, a bunny brunch and more, during the Simon Kidgits Club’s Easter Celebration.

As part of the free, Easter-inspired “egg”stravaganza, children will have the opportunity to munch on goodies and take a photo with the bunny to celebrate the momentous occasion, as well as enjoy festive activities, interactive games and more.

The Easter Bunny is a revered tradition at The Falls and this year is no exception. Families are invited to visit the floppy-eared friend who will be available for professional photos Sat., April 2-Sat., April 23, during select hours.

The Falls Rings In the Holiday Season with 7AM Opening on Black Friday

The Falls, one of the largest open-air shopping, dining and entertainment complexes in the United States, will be the best place to shop the day after Thanksgiving with an early opening at 7am, giving eager shoppers enough time to find all the gifts they need and to get the first pick of the season's hottest items. Shoppers will also benefit from the return of Shop Smarter, a national effort to help make holiday shopping a festive and rejuvenating experience for all.

Area Simon Malls Hosting "Gifts for the Gulf"

"Gifts for the Gulf" Will Support Florida Audubon, Raising Awareness and Funds for the Wildlife Affected by the Gulf Oil Spill 
 
Dadeland Mall, The Falls (Kendall), The Shops at Sunset Place (South Miami) and Coral Square Mall (Coral Springs) are part of 15 Simon Malls across the state of Florida opening their doors on Sat., July 24 and Sun. July 25 to raise awareness and funds to help birds, other wildlife and our Florida beaches that are being threatened by the Gulf oil spill.  To benefit Florida Audubon, Simon Property Group's "Gifts for the Gulf" will showcase displays of shorebirds nesting on beaches and offer shoppers important information about the wildlife affected by the oil spill crisis.

Mall shoppers on July 24-25 from noon-5pm will have the opportunity to learn about how certain birds nest on our beaches and are in harm's way if clean-up operations are not carefully conducted. Florida Audubon leaders and volunteers will also share facts about a number of birds affected and offer tips on protecting wildlife and our beaches during this time. A coloring station will be available for childre, who will receive complimentary coloring sheets of different birds. Special t-shirts will be on sale and monetary donations will be accepted to help support the goals of Florida Audubon's "Gulf Oil Spill" response efforts, which are to rescue Florida's coastal animals and assist in rehabilitating our birds and beaches.

"Audubon connects people with nature so we can all join in the fight to keep the sand clean, the marshes and beaches alive, and our birds flying.
