Sure, South Beach has a lot going on - bars, clubs, restaurants, shopping, and, of course, sun, sand, and surf. But there is a whole other side of Miami, waiting to be discovered just 15 minutes away. Hop on a Vespas and explore the pulsing heart of the Miami art scene in the Wynwood Art District. Miami-based Roam Rides offers three tours, each focusing on different aspects of this growing neighborhood. Come share our excitement and get to know a different Miami!
The Street Art Tour, developed exclusively for us by street.art.cycles, the creators of the original bicycle graffiti tour, takes riders across the Venetian Causeway and winds up through Wynwood and the Design District. Many stops along the way focus on both local and internationally known artists who have created some stunning work on both public and private properties. An in-depth and fascinating exploration of the artists and crews, and the rules by which they respect tags, bombs, throw-ups and pieces, this tour is unlike anything you've seen in Miami before.
The Gallery Tour features select galleries in Wynwood that showcase the diversity and depth of the exploding art scene in Miami. From more traditional galleries featuring well-known artists to galleries that focus on artists from a particular cultural backgroud to avant garde galleries promoting emerging artists, the tour gives riders a great cross-section of what is going on in the Wynwood Arts District.
The Collections Tour features an in-depth visit to one of the major Collection houses in Wynwood, either the Rubell Collection or the Margulies Collection. These are both very large spaces-45,000 sq. ft.-that house huge collections of paintings, sculptures, photos, video, and installations. More like museums than galleries, these locations offer a tour of the collection led by a docent.
All tours finish up with brunch/lunch at Morgan's. Morgan's is a spectacular restaurant on 29th Street in Wynwood, featuring classic American fare prepared beautifully. They call themselves "Miami's Modern Home-Style Comfort Food." Morgan's has created a fixed menu for those wrapping up their tour. The cost of lunch plus gratuity is included in the tour.
All tours included any entrance fees, tolls both ways, and lunch including gratuity, and the cost is per person. It does not include the scooter rental. We are offering a discounted rate for riders who only want the scooter for the duration of the tour, $25 per scooter. For riders who want to keep the scooter beyond the tour, regular rates apply:
- Street Art Tour: $55/person
- Gallery Tour: $55/person
- Collections Tour: $65/person
Tours operates on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (Street Art Only on Sunday). The tours begin at 11am, and depart from Maurice Gibb Memorial Park, which is located at the intersection of Purdy Ave. and the Venetian Causeway. Rriders should arrive at 10:30 to check everyone in and make sure they are all comfortable on their Vespas. Tour will last 3-3.5 hours, including brunch/lunch.
The tours will take riders across the Venetian Causeway and up into Wynwood and the Design District, avoiding busy roads and bad neighborhoods.
