Give $3, Save 30% at Miami Seaquarium, All Proceeds from Offer Benefit South Florida Animals
In a continuing effort to help local animal charities, Miami Seaquarium introduces the Give $3, Save 30% offer, which gives guests the opportunity to donate to one of their favorite charities and receive a 30 percent savings on admission to Miami Seaquarium. Following the success of the last two years’ similar promotions which raised more than $46,000 in donations for wildlife related charities, this year’s promotion will benefit south Florida-based charities including Humane Society of Greater Miami Adopt-a-Pet, Humane Society of Broward County and South Florida SPCA Horse Rescue.
The offer starts on July 30 and runs until September 30. To participate visit www.miamiseaquarium.com for a donation form.
“Miami Seaquarium has a long history of reaching out to and assisting charities of all types,” said Andrew Hertz, General Manager. “We are happy this year to focus the fruits of these promotions on three very worthy charities that help dogs, cats and horses.”
Guests may choose from one of the following charities:
Humane Society of Greater Miami
The Humane Society of Greater Miami Adopt-A-Pet is a limited admit, adoption guarantee facility dedicated to placing every dog and cat in our care into a loving home, and to promoting responsible pet ownership and spay/neuter programs. Adoption guarantee simply means that every animal under our care is safe from the threat of euthanasia for as long as it takes to find them a forever family.
Humane Society of Broward County
The Humane Society of Broward County provides shelter, aid and responsible adoptions to animals entrusted to our care, and educates the community about respect and kindness to all animals.
South Florida SPCA Horse Rescue
The South Florida SPCA, founded in 1992, is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and adoption of abused, neglected and abandoned horses and other large animals. We also educate the community about responsible animal care, animal ownership and promote the welfare of animals through local and national advocacy.
Miami Seaquarium, South Florida's most popular tourist attraction, is a family-oriented marine-life park open to the public 365 days a year. The park provides visitors with a greater understanding and appreciation for marine life through shows, presentations and marine-life exhibits. General admission to Miami Seaquarium is $39.95 and $29.95 for children (ages 3-9). More information on Miami Seaquarium is available at www.miamiseaquarium.com; also "Like" Miami Seaquarium on Facebook.
Miami Seaquarium is an accredited member of the Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums, an international organization committed to the care and conservation of marine mammals. Due to an overwhelming reception by the South Florida community and strong ticket sales, Cavalia’s new production, “Odysseo,” announced that a third additional week will be added to the limited engagement of the production at Bicentennial Park, which will extend its stay in Miami until March 25.
After an extended standing ovation on opening night, Miami Herald’s Howard Cohen commented about the show. "If Walt Disney were still alive, he might create a show as magical as Cavalia's new ‘Odysseo,’ he said. "But it wouldn't be better than the wonderful world mastermind Normand Latourelle has created under his White Big Top."
Nathalie Rodriguez of WMIA-FM, 98.3, describes the show as “One word split in two: Awe-some! It's artistic and majestical, but most importantly, not to be missed!"
Soul of Miami raved “The show is truly amazing. Between the astounding horsemanship and acrobatics combined with the awesome scenery and visual effects, this show will leave you wanting to see more. This is one show you will not want to miss.”

The contemporary fusion of theatrical circus and urban dance will now run from July 26 to September 4 at the Adrienne Arsht Center's Ziff Ballet Opera House.

Hailed by the Montreal Gazette as “a thrilling piece of work, full of attitude, energy and invention,” iD was created by Jeannot Painchaud, founder and artistic director of Montreal’s acclaimed Cirque Éloize, and has sold out in Montreal and Toronto. The high-energy all-musical spectacle (there’s no spoken word), features an original electronic score composed by Jean-Phi Goncalves (from the indie band Beast) and Alex McMahon, which features a Spanish-language hip-hop number among other electropop, dance, and vocal tracks. The creative team also features hip-hop choreographer Mourad Merzouki and costumes by Linda Brunelle.

iD is the seventh original production from Cirque Éloize. Since it began in 1993, Cirque Éloize has become a world leader in contemporary circus arts, with almost 4,000 performances in more than 400 cities around the globe to its credit. The award-winning company has enjoyed rave reviews and sold-out engagements at the world’s most prestigious festivals and theatres including Edinburgh International Festival, the Hollywood Bowl, Théâtre du Rond-Point des Champs-Élysées, Sadler’s Wells and the Barbican Theatre.
Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts is located at 1300 Biscayne Boulevard, downtown Miami. For more information, please visit the Arsht Center's Cirque Éloize iD page or www.arshtcenter.org.
Designed by world-renowned architect Cesar Pelli of Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, the venue is comprised of the 2,400-seat Sanford and Dolores Ziff Ballet Opera House, the 2,200-seat John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall, the black box Carnival Studio Theater, a restored Carnival Tower, the Peacock Foundation, Inc. Studio, the Peacock Foundation, Inc. Education Center and the outdoor Parker and Vann Thomson Plaza for the Arts. The Carnival Tower, an architectural icon and one of Miami’s oldest Art Deco buildings, houses the street-level Bombay Sapphire Lounge. Events impresario and restaurateur Barton G. Weiss brought his signature style to the center in 2009 with Prelude By Barton G, a full-service, upscale restaurant.

![]() |
The Arteaméricas Festival, 2010 |
Arteaméricas, the premier fair of art from Latin America, will be returning for its ninth consecutive year. Starting on Friday, March 25 through Monday, March 28, Arteaméricas will showcase the latest trends in paintings, sculpture and multimedia from contemporary artists as well as renowned masters at the Miami Beach Convention Center, Hall D, 1901 Convention Center Drive. (Show hours: Friday, noon-9pm, Saturday, noon-8pm, Sunday, noon-7pm, Monday, noon-5pm).
“Arteaméricas has been the most respected Latin American art fair since it’s inception,"said Leslie Pantín, president of Arteaméricas. "We’re proud of this distinction, and for that reason, we raise our standards every year, create innovative projects and recruit the best galleries out there.”
The best galleries from all over Latin America, the U.S., the Caribbean, Canada and Europe will be participating. The four-day Arteaméricas event will feature works by internationally recognized artists and sculptors. Likewise, vanguard contemporary artists will be on hand in order to exhibit their works as the latest in Latin American modern art.
As in past years, Arteaméricas has set up a Selection Committee, consisting of Julia Herzberg, an internationally renowned curator from New York; Angel Felix, Director of the Cultural Program of the Interamerican Development Bank; and Leonor Amarante, an acknowledged curator and critic from Brazil. Carol Damian, Director of the Frost Museum, has been in the committee since the fair’s first year and is a member once again. All four carefully evaluate every gallery and their artists, in order to continue to raise the quality of the fair.
In 2011, Ateaméricas will introduce its NewArt section, featuring an exhibition by the Miami Art Museum. This special project will highlight works of new and upcoming artists in the Latin American art scene. In addition, the fair is organizing a curated space that will depict the violence in Central America through the eyes of artists, as well as a curated space specially created for Cuban art.

For its ninth edition, Arteaméricas will provide a fully-functional iPhone application to its clients. The application will include the following features:
- Free to download for all Arteaméricas visitors
- Complete online catalog of the fair; Image-recognition technology that will allow visitors to snap a picture of any artwork at the fair and instantly receive information on the artwork, artist and gallery
- Creation of “favorites” list while exploring the fair
- Social networking connections to Facebook and Twitter
- Programming and scheduling information about the fair
This year, the Arteaméricas team has organized a series of pre-fair events in partnership with some of the fair’s sponsors:
- Thursday, March 3 - An evening reception to preview exclusive art pieces from some of the most prestigious galleries participating in the fair at Saks Fifth Avenue, Dadeland Mall.
- Thursday, March 10 - A special event with Miami’s Consular Corps designed for Arteaméricas VIPs at the ST Residential Infinity condominium in Brickell.
- Wednesday, March 16 - An informative lecture on Japan’s influence in Latin America at the Lowe Art Museum.
Year after year, Arteaméricas exceeds all expectations with outstanding exhibits, a diverse audience, and excellent sales, while maintaining its intimate, boutique feel.
The art available at Arteaméricas ranges from $2,000 to approximately $1 million.
