Cirque Du Soleil To Present Alegría In Limited Engagement at the BankAtlantic Center, July 20-31

Cirque du Soleil recently announced the critically-acclaimed touring production Alegría will take the BankAtlantic Center stage in Sunrise from July 20-31 for a limited engagement. Tickets are on sale now for all performances at www.cirquedusoleil.com/alegria or by calling 1-800-745-3000.

Alegría is a Cirque du Soleil classic and an internationally acclaimed production that has entertained more than 10 million people worldwide. Alegría is a mood, a state of mind. The themes of the show, whose name means "jubilation" in Spanish, are many. Power and the handing down of power over time, the evolution from ancient monarchies to modern democracies, old age, youth—it is against this backdrop that the characters of Alegría play out their lives. Kings' fools, minstrels, beggars, old aristocrats and children make up its universe, along with the clowns, who alone are able to resist the passing of time and the social transformations that accompany it.

Alegría features an international cast of 55 performers and musicians from 17 countries and showcases breathtaking acrobatics. Show acts include Power Track, a brilliant display of synchronized choreography and tumbling on a trampoline system hidden under the stage floor. In Russian Bars, artists fly through the air and perform spectacular somersaults and mid-air turns, landing on bars perched on the sturdy shoulders of catchers.

There are also numerous other acts featured in Alegría -- For a complete show line-up click HERE!

Due To Overwhelming Demand, The Adrienne Arsht Center Extends Miami Run Of Cirque Éloize iD

Now celebrating its Fifth Anniversary Season, the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County proudly announces, due to an astounding reception by the South Florida community, the summer blockbuster Cirque Éloize iD will extend its stay in Miami by four weeks. The contemporary fusion of theatrical circus and urban dance will now run from July 26 to September 4 at the Adrienne Arsht Center's Ziff Ballet Opera House.

“Even prior to opening night, South Florida has already shown great excitement for Cirque Éloize iD,” said Executive Vice President Scott Shiller. “In efforts to please the public, we have decided to extend its run for four more weeks, a total of 32 performances, to satisfy the high demand.”

Tickets for the additional Cirque Éloize iD performances will be available to the public as of Friday, June 17. Tickets start at $25 and special VIP tickets, which invite iD fans to become part of the show, range from $75 to $85. A VIP ticket grants an interaction opportunity with members of the iD cast before and during the show. In the pre-performance interaction, VIP ticket holders will have their picture taken. As they watch the show from the best seats of the Ziff Ballet Opera House, VIPs will savor their five minutes of fame while their images become part of the show as they are projected on the stage.

Tickets may be purchased through the Adrienne Arsht Center box office by calling 305-949-6722, or online at www.arshtcenter.org.

Hailed by the Montreal Gazette as “a thrilling piece of work, full of attitude, energy and invention,” iD was created by Jeannot Painchaud, founder and artistic director of Montreal’s acclaimed Cirque Éloize, and has sold out in Montreal and Toronto. The high-energy all-musical spectacle (there’s no spoken word), features an original electronic score composed by Jean-Phi Goncalves (from the indie band Beast) and Alex McMahon, which features a Spanish-language hip-hop number among other electropop, dance, and vocal tracks. The creative team also features hip-hop choreographer Mourad Merzouki and costumes by Linda Brunelle.

iD is the seventh original production from Cirque Éloize. Since it began in 1993, Cirque Éloize has become a world leader in contemporary circus arts, with almost 4,000 performances in more than 400 cities around the globe to its credit. The award-winning company has enjoyed rave reviews and sold-out engagements at the world’s most prestigious festivals and theatres including Edinburgh International Festival, the Hollywood Bowl, Théâtre du Rond-Point des Champs-Élysées, Sadler’s Wells and the Barbican Theatre.

Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts is located at 1300 Biscayne Boulevard, downtown Miami. For more information, please visit the Arsht Center's Cirque Éloize iD page or www.arshtcenter.org.

Designed by world-renowned architect Cesar Pelli of Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, the venue is comprised of the 2,400-seat Sanford and Dolores Ziff Ballet Opera House, the 2,200-seat John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall, the black box Carnival Studio Theater, a restored Carnival Tower, the Peacock Foundation, Inc. Studio, the Peacock Foundation, Inc. Education Center and the outdoor Parker and Vann Thomson Plaza for the Arts. The Carnival Tower, an architectural icon and one of Miami’s oldest Art Deco buildings, houses the street-level Bombay Sapphire Lounge. Events impresario and restaurateur Barton G. Weiss brought his signature style to the center in 2009 with Prelude By Barton G, a full-service, upscale restaurant.

Cirque du Soleil Returns to Miami with KOOZA!

Cirque du Soleil made its first visit to Miami more than 20 years ago. This year, Cirque du Soleil is proud to bring its critically acclaimed new Big Top production KOOZA to Miami. KOOZA will premiere Friday, November 12 for a limited engagement under the trademark blue-and-yellow Grand Chapiteau (big top) at Bicentennial Park. It's the last chance to see KOOZA in North America before it heads to Japan.

Tickets are now available at www.cirquedusoleil.com/kooza or 800-450-1480. A VIP Tapis Rouge package is also available and includes one of the best seats in the house and access to the VIP Suite one hour before the show and during intermission.

The Name
The name KOOZA is inspired by the Sanskrit word "koza," which means "box," "chest" or "treasure," and was chosen because one of the underlying concepts of the production is the idea of a "circus in a box."

The Show
KOOZA is a return to the origins of Cirque du Soleil that combines two circus traditions - acrobatic performance and the art of clowning. The show highlights the physical demands of human performance in all its splendor and fragility, presented in a colorful melange that emphasizes bold slapstick humor.

The show starts with The Trickster bursting onto the scene like a jack-in-a-box right in front of The Innocent, and that is just the first of many surprises to follow. The Innocent's journey brings him into contact with a panoply of comic characters such as the King, the Trickster, the Heimloss, the Pickpocket, the Obnoxious Tourist and his Bad Dog.

Cast and Acts
Several of the 53 performing artists in the show have received awards from important circus arts competitions. The show presents an unprecedented approach to the High Wire and a breathtaking Wheel of Death – an act that Cirque du Soleil has never before presented under the big top.
"KOOZA is about human connection and the world of duality, good and bad", says the show's writer and director David Shiner. "The tone is fun and funny, light and open. The show doesn't take itself too seriously, but it's very much about ideas, too".

About Cirque du Soleil
From a group of 20 street performers at its beginnings in 1984, Cirque du Soleil is a major Quebéc-based organization providing high-quality artistic entertainment. The company has 5,000 employees, including more than 1,200 artists from close to 50 different countries.

Cirque du Soleil has brought wonder and delight to close to 100 million spectators in 300 cities on five continents. In 2010, Cirque du Soleil, will present 21 shows simultaneously throughout the world. The company has received such prestigious awards as the Emmy, Drama Desk, Bambi, ACE, Gémeaux, Félix, and Rose d'Or de Montreux. Cirque du Soleil International Headquarters are in Montreal, Canada.

Spain's Circo de los Horrores to Make Its US Debut in Miami

World-Renowned Show Is Ghoulish Entertainment

Miami will be invaded by monsters, ghouls and goblins on Oct. 7, when Circo de los Horrores U.S.A. debuts for American audiences.

Ghoulish acts range from stunning aerial acts and elevated tightrope performances to breathtaking acrobatics and comical audience interactions. Contortionists, jugglers, acrobats and clowns skulk through eerie mist rising from below as they usher onlookers into a 19th century Gothic cemetery. Screams pierce the darkness as creatures from beyond the grave creep ahead. Many will pass through guillotines; others will have knives hurled at them. Some will be enclosed in cages, and still others will be restrained in straitjackets. The end result is an explosive cocktail of blood-curdling screams, thrill and awe. Featured characters include Devora, a beautiful but ruthless vampire; Hellen, a dead bride; Grimo, the killer clown who loves to hang out at hospitals and morgues and Suso the clown, the only mortal in the show.

Seen by more than two million people throughout Europe and South America, this live touring production is a unique blend of human circus and horror featuring world-class acrobats, dancers and specialty acts from around the world. "Miami is known as the Gateway to Americas and we are excited to bring this global touring show to the U.S. for the first time," said Francisco Santos, CEO of Full Moon Productions.  "We are looking forward to transforming Miami into a city of ghouls."

Circo de los Horrores U.S.A. will appear at the James L. Knight International Center for a limited engagement from Oct. 8-18.  Regular performance days are Tuesday through Sunday and there is no show Mondays. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster by calling 1-800-745-3000 or online through www.ticketmaster.com

Prices range from $20.00 to $80.00 for children and adults. The show is recommended for children 13 years of age and older. Proud sponsors of Circo de los Horrores include the City of Miami, James L. Knight Center, and Ticketmaster. For additional information visit www.circodeloshorroresusa.com.
